Learning to say no to things is one of the most important ways to take control of your own life and keep yourself from burning out. It’s not being selfish-it’s necessary. Of course you can still help where possible. Of course you will still look after your loved ones as much as you can but what it does mean is that you won’t absolutely dread things that you don’t want to do. Anything you are uncomfortable with or feeling pressured into-say no. If you are too tired and pushed to your limit-definitely say no! If you have plans to paint your nails and stay indoors all winter-say no.
Your self esteem and confidence in yourself will improve and you will have more time for doing the things you love, feel brighter and enjoy your days more. It takes practice and i’m still learning how to do this myself but i know that when i do I am more energetic and generally more positive.
